Sunday 31 January 2010

Sunny Sunday

1~ A lovely run on a crisp and frosty morning. Pity I lost it on the steep hill. Next time I will run all the way! This was followed by another walk by the river to the old station and the purchase of some lovely bread and biscuits. White bread - as I was told I necer buy white bread!

2~Another proper Sunday lunch.

3~The prospect of a good read, and the satisfaction of finishing two books this weekend. One was very short though - Ethel and Ernest.

Saturday 30 January 2010

Sunny Saturday

1~ A beautiful full moon shining on the sea as we drove to grandma's in the dark last night. It was amazing.

2~A walk round Richmond in the sun this morning - cold but lovely. Great after my long lie and I managed to finish my book. I love AMS, but I didn't enjoy this book all that much. Popped into a few shops and bought a lovely primrose from the market. Also got a bargain in Oxfam. I just need to find the time to read it.

3~Master T in bed at 6.30pm. It's too good to be true - no tea and still fully clothed!. He is bound to be up later. I'm looking forward to a glass of grandad's pink prosecco now!

Friday 29 January 2010

Friday already

1~ A visit to Almond Valley park with friends. It was great, but sooooooooooo cold. Look forward to visiting again on a warmer day!

2~Snowdrop spotting in the garden. There are some almost out. Will do some more spotting this weekend.

3~Time to catch up with the washing and ironing before heading to grandma's for the weekend.

Thursday 28 January 2010

Thursday

1~Seeing Master T playing catch this morning (he seemed so much better today). He loved being called butter fingers!

2~Lunch out with colleagues. My lunch came with chips!!! Hurrah!!

3~Master T fast asleep when I arrived at nursery. So peaceful. Unfortunately I had to wake him up :( He hadn't been himself today. Hopefully back to normal tomorrow for his playdate.

Late Wednesday

Can't believe this is late - I was at home all day yesterday and not even out of the house!

1~ An enforced day at home. Unfortunately Master T was not very well. He has still not found his scream.

2~Cuddles with Master T.

3~Time to make soup and bake cakes.

Tuesday 26 January 2010

Tuesday

1~My first (and possibly last) visit to Bute House.

2~Master T's painted train. He should have been in bed rather than painting!

3~An interesting programme on TV tonight about water. Next one is about wind. Maybe I'll manage to see all of it!

Monday 25 January 2010

Manic Monday

After a very slow and late start to the day...........

1~Getting to the front of the queue in Sainsburys because no one wanted to use the self scan tills. Why wouldn't you? The queue was huge and I felt very depressed on joining it, until I saw that I could walk all the way to the front and scan myself.

2~I've lost my scream daddy - said Master T this morning. He has a cough and possibly a sore throat - not that either is slowing him down.

3~A new magazine to take to bed.

Sunday 24 January 2010

Sunday

1~A long lie. Master T was very happy playing with his cousins and their toys. If only I could have been bothered to read.

2~A lovely Sunday lunch cooked by my b-in-law. Delicious!

3~A visit to here. Delightful. It closed at 4pm - which seemed early (and the cafe had closed at 3pm - very early). Master T had fun though and made an aeroplane. Would have been nice to have stayed longer.

Late Saturday

1~Texting all my friends during a long car journey - I wasn't driving!

2~ A late afternoon walk along the beach at Whitley Bay, with BIG waves crashing down. This was followed by a visit to a lovely little cafe where the kids had ice cream!!!!!!!!! It was far too cold for ice cream, but.......

3~Watching a very funny Peter Kay video. Just right for a Saturday night.

Friday 22 January 2010

Friday

1~So many interesting talks at a seminar today. Fascinating stuff - but what are the solutions?

2~Glueing and glittering with Master T. How did I get covered in glitter?

3~Reading Master T his new book - Little Rabbit Foo Foo. He knows all the words and we had a great discussion about why he gets changed into a goonie and what is a goonie and why he bopped everyone on the head....... and the moral of the story is........

Late Thursday

1~A delightful dinner with colleagues, fabulous food and company.

2~A lovely gift of a rose schfer beetle - beautiful.

3~Learning so much at a meeting where I knew nothing. Wasn't able to contribute - but very interesting.

Wednesday 20 January 2010

Wednesday

Has anything good happened today?

1~Was asked if I wanted to increase my hours at work. I immediately declined - though nice to be asked. I would have a nervous breakdown if I moved to full time hours and even less would get done at home (if that is possible)!

2~Wore my purple tights. I love them and have been asked by a complete stranger where I got them.

3~Going to bed with my hot water bottle and book.

Tuesday 19 January 2010

Tuesday

1~Getting a mini cheddar from Master T (already sucked by him). That's good sharing!

2~Persuading Mr T to walk a little further with me this morning so I didn't slip on the ice. He was worried we would both end up on the ground!

3~Cakes at work to celebrate Ms S's birthday. Happy birthday!

Monday 18 January 2010

Monday, Monday

1~My first run of the year - well my first run for months. It was more of a plod, the distance wasn't great but it did involve two significant hills. Have had a piece of my healthy fatless fruit cake as a reward.

2~Now that Christmas is over, my lunch hour was devoted to birthday present shopping. Still need another couple of boy presents for the end of the month.

3~Cheesey crumpets for Master T's tea. He devoured them.

Sunday 17 January 2010

Sunday

A weird day in many ways, possibly because I haven't done much except the hum drum chores. Why are there always so many things needing cleaned up?

1~The morning drive to the supermarket. On my own, sun shining, listening to the radio. It was only 15 minutes, but it was just me.....peace!

2~A quick wander round the block in the late afternoon sunshine. No one wanted to join me. I brooded, but enjoyed a bit more me-time before the next round of cooking and washing up.

3~A programme on Diaries that I found on the iPlayer. Self indulgent!

Saturday 16 January 2010

Sodden Saturday

It started wet, but brightened up thankfully.

1~Planting some bulbs with Master T. He soooooooo wanted to help, but something went wrong as he needed to have his pirates with him and he lost one. It all ended in tears! Now they are in the dark cupboard off his room. I wonder how long they will last before he investigates?

2~A walk round Smeaton Lake, which was frozen. Spotted thousand of snowdrops pushing their way up through the snow and ice. A few were almost our. This was followed by a visit to the tea room for cake (and ice cream for Master T), and Mister T purchasing me a new (small) amaryllis. (Amaryllis 1 is about to bloom)

3~Doing a bit of cross stitch. Something for Master T I hope.

and an extra one today:

4~Watching Slumdog Millionaire. Reminded me of our trips to India.

Friday

1~Master T playing with his good friend J. It was going so well until he forgot about sharing.......... We enjoyed S's homemade scones regardless of the stress!

2~The sight of the grass again - just a wee bit, but it's a start.

3~A small bar of green and black's white chocolate...mmmmmmmmm!!

Thursday 14 January 2010

Chilly Thursday

1~First pilates class of the year - but it was sooooooooo cold.

2~Relief that Master T was a good boy at nursery today after yesterdays incidents!

3~All the new and spring clothes in the shops - but we are freezing here!

Wednesday 13 January 2010

Wet Wednesday

1~My bulb collection. Some cheap tulips waiting to be planted – hope its not too late. My little irises just brought out into the light, my amaryllis shooting ever upwards with a flower on the verge of bursting open and my hyacinths, starting to go over.

2~This fab site. Need more time to look at it properly.

3~The amazing tea we had made with random leftovers including, veggie haggis, chicken, mushrooms & beans. Tasty comfort food for a cold night.

Tuesday 12 January 2010

Chilly Tuesday

The snow is disappearing, but it is feeling colder than ever - the wind. Starting to see the garden again and the bulbs poking through.

1~ A meeting at work with such lovely people.

2~Master T being very brave getting his immunisations this afternoon. I did not have high hopes - but he was a little star *****. No tears and no screams. We went and had a rootle around the library afterwards.

4~The arrival of my friend L's baby - a little boy. Lovely news.

Monday 11 January 2010

Monday - the start of the week

1~Being able to walk on the snow and ice-free pavement. Walking felt normal again.

2~Buying a couple of baby gifts. Decisions, decisions!

3~Peace. Master A was so tired out from yesterday he went straight to bed. I was at a loose end. What to do? I did some of Mister T's jigsaw - 1000 pieces almost done - hurrah!

3~A few sneaky Cartmel sticky toffee chocolates - a really delicious Christmas present.

2~A kiss on the nose from Master T.

3~Fish and chips from the chip shop for tea. What a treat!

Wedesday

1~ A short day at work. Having dug ourselves out we eventually got into work and before I knew it, it was lunchtime and then it was home time! The end of my working week. Hurrah!!

2~Master T with his little friend Master D. He ran into nursery late, showed Master D his leaflet about the Mallard and then gave it back to daddy to take care of while he was busy at nursery. Lovely!

3~The peacefulness (don't think of the stress) of driving to work after a very heavy overnight snow fall - well the first partof the journey anyway.

Tuesday 5 January 2010

Tuesday

First day back at work. What a drag. Very quiet and not much was done, but only one more day and then my short week is over.

1~The fabulous tablet brought in my my boss (made by her husband). Think we should request a weekly supply.

2~The brazilian darkness chocs in Mr T's tin of Roses. There's a theme here which would suggest I have a sweet tooth. I don't really.

3~ I could say more snow - blizzard conditions tonight and everything has its new white blanket. While it was snowing I was encouraging Master T to go to sleep. Our little chat about nursery was so sweet.

-3-The leftover key lime pie for tea. Must make an effort to go to Waitrose.

New Year

A new year - a new beginning, a new decade. What lies instore during 2010? The year has started quietly - things will liven up I am sure. What do I want to achieve? Perhaps I should make a list.

What have I enjoyed today? ~Breakfast- have not been eating breakfast over the holidays, so really enjoyed my healthy breakfast. ~Making the brown bear jigsaw! ~Leftovers for tea, especially the key lime pie! ~Looking out at the snow and imagining that we are snowed in. ~The peace and quiet.

What will tomorrow bring?

Happy New Year.
